My Nepali mates

My Nepalie mates Hello folks, long time no writing.... sincere apologies, time really does just fly by these days.... however there are two people that I would like you to meet - Suebash and Bishnor, my two Nepali mates.

I have been working closely with Suebash and Bishnor for most of 2009. Their attention to detail and ability to get on with the job and get it done is a credit to them. Their day-to-day responsibilities are daily pen walking of the feedlot pens to check the condition of the sheep and identify any that are sick or injured. Depending on the number of sheep in the feedlot they sometimes may have some of their Nepal co-workers helping otherwise it is just “my angels” as I call them. The primary objective is to remove any animals that are not well or have sustained an injury for whatever reason. These animals are then removed from their respective pens and taken for immediate processing. This ensures the animals welfare is managed as a priority.

Bahrain imports between 700,000-800,000 sheep annually so managing the numbers that come through the feedlot requires constant hard work combined with good eyes and an ability to get to know the sheep. I am proud to say that Suebash and Bishnor are a real asset to their company and the people they work with. They are my great mates..... and hard workers...there are many of us here in Bahrain and across the region working to ensure Australia’s sheep and cattle are well cared for once they arrive in the Middle East.
