Ron is one of the stockmen who cares for Australian animals during their journey overseas on board livestock vessels

I’m an accredited stockman who looks after Australian sheep and cattle during their journey overseas on livestock vessels.

Like all stockmen working in Australia’s livestock export industry, caring for animals is a responsibility I take very seriously. I start work each day at 5am, checking that the animals on board have space to move around and lie down in their pens, and airflow to keep them comfortable. I make sure all livestock have constant access to food and water, and any animal that needs extra care is placed into a hospital pen and given extra attention.

Along with the Government accredited vets that travel on board vessels to the Middle East, stockmen like me play an important role in making sure our animals arrive fit and healthy. I’ve been a stockman for many years, and I’m proud of what I do for a living.
