Get the facts

As the world’s largest exporter of live sheep and cattle, the industry employs 13,000 Australians and contributes $1.8 billion to the economy.

Australian exporters lead the world in animal welfare standards and their care of animals during export.

There are many myths about Australian livestock exports, and the industry works hard to set the record straight. For example, it’s naïve to believe that banning live exports would improve animal care. In fact, without Australia’s work in other countries, global welfare standards would actually fall.

The fact is that good animal welfare is good business. So it makes sense for everyone in the industry – be they farmer or exporter, stockman or vet – to take pride in caring for healthy animals.
